The 2025 Reese's Senior Bowl is jam-packed with extremely talented running backs this NFL Draft cycle and through one day of practice it's already been tough to stand out. However, Michigan Wolverines running back Donovan Edwards is determined to break through the noise.

He had a pretty impressive first day of practice, breaking off a couple long runs and showing plus value as a receiver too, but when A to Z Sports interviewed him Edwards was focused on making sure his one mistake didn't happen again:

"I think today was really good for me today. The small and the big things, and the plays that I was able to make today. Just showing leadership and abilities. Just being there for my teammates as well. And I should have won that rep on Jeffrey Bassa. I really won that rep. He got that one, but it isn't happening again."

Edwards largely dominated one-on-ones and found consistent success in most every aspect today, but his day could have been even better if he pulled in the ball on the rep he mentioned against Oregon linebacker Jeffrey Bassa (as you can see in the post below).

Donovan Edwards' quickness and burst easily earned him a win against Bassa initially, but he just couldn't quite catch the ball and get his feet in bounds deep down the sideline. I was standing just about right in front of Edwards when this play happened and he was clearly frustrated at himself. The good thing is that he didn't have many things to be frustrated about throughout the rest of the first Senior Bowl practice.

Edwards largely showed out, pushing hard to finish every single rep to show off his speed, balance, and vision. For example, he nearly fell on one play after a defender almost landed in his lap in the backfield, but his incredible balance allowed to him correct course, find the cutback lane, and finish for a long touchdown (in post below).

Then shortly after that play he broke free again. Edwards once against should have been stopped in the backfield, but he kept his feet and made it through to the third level of the defense in impressive fashion.

It's a bit strange that Michigan Wolverines fans didn't get to see more plays like this from Edwards more consistently last season considering his talent and athleticism, but he's certainly showing out now.

Edwards continued in our post-practice interview with him, crediting Jim Harbaugh for much of his mindset, perspective, and drive for excellence regardless of his assignment at Michigan. It's unclear just how early Edwards is going to be drafted, but if he finishes a few more impressive plays he's definitely going to begin rising up 2025 NFL Draft boards around the league.
