The Kansas City Chiefs' big win over the Cleveland Browns came at a cost.

Patrick Mahomes left the game early after suffering a high ankle sprain, putting his availability in question for the Chiefs' matchup against the Houston Texans.

However, all signs are pointing to the star quarterback playing after he's been a full participant in practice the past two days.

But, NBA star Kevin Durant isn't too sure that's the best idea.

"I don't think he should play this week. It's a high ankle sprain I heard which is probably worse than a regular ankle sprain. So yeah, I think he should take a week off," Durant said during an appearance on Up & Adams with Kay Adams. "Get his body right and get ready for these playoffs."

So, Kay Adams posed a very important question to Durant: what would you do if you are Andy Reid?

"I sit Mahomes. First of all, you have to monitor him every day. See how he's doing every single day. If he's got a slight limp, just even a slight limp, we're not going to force it this week," he added.

And Durant didn't stop there.

"What's more important, the health of Patrick Mahomes or trying to lock up the 1 seed," Durant questioned. "You looking at the bigger picture, they trying to THREE-peat."

The Chiefs have already clinched a spot in the playoffs and are currently two games ahead for the No. 1 spot in the AFC. So why risk it?

But Durant knows that as a competitor, Mahomes would never voluntarily sit out.

"That sh** could be broken and he'll try to play," Durant said. "But you almost got to protect players from themselves at this point in the season.

The Chiefs have a short week, playing on Saturday against the Texans and then again on Christmas Day against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
