The Las Vegas Raiders are almost set for their Monday Night Football game against the Atlanta Falcons, their second primetime game this season. Unfortunately, the Raiders are going to be on primetime potentially getting beaten up by the Falcons, a team that is pushing to make the playoffs out of their division, in a battle with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who just beat the Raiders last week.

But this week has a bit of a different story for the Raiders. And, because this team could very well lose the rest of the games on their schedule, we have to talk about some of the good stories going on with this team. And, one of them is the story of Desmond Ridder, the former Falcons starter, and a quarterback the Raiders signed off of the Arizona Cardinals practice squad this season.

With Aidan O'Connell potentially out this week against the Falcons, Ridder could make his first start since he was last with the Falcons, and his first start would be against his former team.

Ridder has appeared in a few games for the Raiders this year but hasn't started a game yet. Earlier this week, when he was asked about the potential opportunity he has, he couldn't help but let all of the emotions out.

"God works in mysterious ways," Ridder told reporters. "Whether I play, whether I don't play, whenever that decision is made, like I’ve said every week I'm excited and blessed to have the opportunity to be able to go out there and step out on the field and be able to go do and play the game that I love, the game that I grew up playing, the game that I’ve put a lot of time, work, sweat and tears into. So whether it's against the Falcons – it doesn't matter who it's against. Any opportunity that I get to go out there and showcase my talents, it's an exciting time."

Aidan O'Connell is "fighting to play" on Monday Night Football, but that doesn't mean that will happen. He was carted off of the field last week with an air cast on his knee, and he held his hands over his face as if he suffered a season-ending injury and he was upset. It's very hard to believe that O'Connell will be playing on Monday.

And, why not try Ridder and see what he has? O'Connell wasn't playing very well even before he got hurt last week. Ridder could be something the Raiders are interested in keeping around for a while, who knows? After this game, the Raiders will play the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are also in a battle for the worst record in the league by the season's end.
