The Cincinnati Bengals can only make the playoffs if the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos next week, but the Broncos are expected to have a huge advantage.

As confirmed by NFL insider Jay Glazer, the Chiefs are expected to rest "key starters" for their season finale against the Broncos.

This was the expectation after the Chiefs locked up the No. 1 seed in the AFC on Christmas Day by beating the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Buffalo Bills cannot match their record and utilize the head-to-head tiebreaker they gained back in Week 11 after defeating the Chiefs.

With nothing to play for other than becoming the second team in history to win 16 regular season games, the Chiefs will take the safe route and sit the likes of quarterback Patrick Mahomes and other starters needed for the playoffs. Carson Wentz is expected to start in Mahomes' place.

The Broncos can technically still clinch the No. 7 seed if they were to lose, but only if the Bengals, Indianapolis Colts, and Miami Dolphins all finish at 8-9 or worse. They won't want to risk hoping for that outcome, so they'll be playing like their season is on the line against the Chiefs.

Cincinnati will need to take care of business against the Pittsburgh Steelers first and foremost, hopefully with the help of running back Chase Brown, but the entire city will be pulling hard for Kansas City's second-stringers next weekend as well.
