Montana State achieves something the likes of Alabama, LSU and Ohio State never have

North Dakota State and South Dakota State have won all but two FCS National Championships since the 2011 season, with James Madison winning in 2016 and Sam Houston State winning the spring season of 2020.

It's impressive to watch these teams play week in and week out, including when they jump up and play FBS competition. Montana State beat New Mexico in week zero, NDSU was three yards away from beating Colorado and South Dakota State put up a good fight against Oklahoma State.

Those three teams, along with South Dakota, made the FCS playoff semifinals, and the games on Saturday were excellent. Montana State and NDSU ended up winning their games, and they will meet for the national championship in Frisco, Texas, on January 6th.

While NDSU is going to be competing for their 10th national championship since 2011, but it was the Bobcats of Montana State that set a division one NCAA record.

The Bobcats are the first team in NCAA history at either the FBS or FCS level to start 15-0 and score at least 30 points in each game. None of Nick Saban's Alabama teams did that nor did LSU's historic 2019 offense that set all kinds of records.

Montana State scored less than 40 points just five times, including their 35-31 in week zero over New Mexico. When you have that kind of sustained success, it's an incredible feat.

The FCS National Championship Game is set to be a banger, and the Bobcats' offense will face its toughest test at NDSU.
