The Dallas Cowboys entered Week 16 with their projected playoff odds sitting at 0.1%.
Those have definitively fallen to 0% following Sunday's noon slate of games. That's because one of the things the Cowboys needed from the NFL world was a loss by the Washington Commanders. With Jalen Hurts ruled out early in the game due to a concussion, the Philadelphia Eagles lost 36-33 in Washington.
That boasts the Commanders to ten wins and with three Wild Card teams in the NFC playoff picture sitting at double-digit wins, the Cowboys are officially out. It took a huge Commanders' game-winning drive led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels after taking possession of the ball with 1:52 remaining on the clock.
Hopes for making the postseason weren't high at all among Cowboys Nation. Elimination was a matter of if and not when for Dallas, who dug a hole so deep that playing through January felt like a longshot even before Dak Prescott's season-ending injury in Week 9.
Such reality was reflected by Parsons' comments earlier this week, who claimed he'd rather see the Eagles lose this weekend despite what it meant for Dallas.
"Nah, at this point, it’s f**k Philly, now," Parsons told reporters. "Even if we got eliminated, like, I gotta crush Philly. F***k them. I hate them now. I be seeing them talk so much on social (media).”
Parsons' message against the team's rival has officially backfired for the Cowboys, who are now set to play Sunday Night Football against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while mathematically eliminated.
Though that's probably how Cowboys fans feel about the situation anyways, it's now time to deal with the reality of playing for nothing as far as the postseason goes.
