The Arkansas Razorbacks and Oklahoma Sooners haven't played one another in an SEC conference game yet, but that doesn't mean these two schools aren't familiar with one another. Not only do the two schools recruit the others state well, with Arkansas winning some big recruits like Cam Little and Luke Hasz and Oklahoma having two of the best defensive backs in the country from Arkansas in their 2025 class, but they also used to be rivals a long time ago.

Back before they were both in the SEC, they were in the SWC or the Southwestern Conference. This is really where the Hogs' hate for the Texas Longhorns turned up a notch, but also where the Hogs started to hate the Oklahoma Sooners. The two teams haven't played in football since 2002, but, they already have a few connections within both of their teams.

Oklahoma DB Kani Walker transfers to Arkansas

The transfer portal has been kicking both of these team's butt, with both teams having a ton of key players leaving, some of the most in the entire SEC. But also, the Razorbacks have now landed a former Sooners defender through the portal, and a kid who was a stud but didn't get maybe the amount of playing time he would have liked.

Kani Walker, a former Sooners defensive back played for what was the best defense in the SEC, and maybe one of the best defenses in the country. Oklahoma wasn't a good team, but it was their offense that held them back this year. The defense was amazing.

As for Walker, he wanted a fresh start and chose Arkansas.

Kani Walker's college history

Kani Walker's initial year with the Oklahoma Sooners was a period of adjustment, but it was during his second and third years that he really started to excel. His physical attributes were undeniable advantages, yet it was his intellectual development that caught everyone's attention.

The 2024 season marked a turning point for Kani. His first interception of the season came in Week 1 against Temple, a play made possible by a deflection from teammate Kendel Dolby.

By the time Week 15 rolled around, Kani had established himself as a reliable and steady presence in the Sooners' secondary, his performance a reflection of his dedication and the trust placed in him by the coaching staff. Over his last two seasons, he compiled 48 tackles, 10 pass deflections, and two interceptions. Yet, these statistics only skimmed the surface of his journey. Kani had grown not only as a player but as a leader, gaining respect both in the locker room and on the gridiron.

The Razorbacks are getting a stud that they desperately need.
