Tension was high at Lincoln Financial Field during the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Pittsburgh Steelers game on Sunday.
And it was felt early on when a fight broke out in the first quarter which involved Eagles rookie Quinyon Mitchell and several players from the Steelers offense.
It appeared Mitchell went to stand up for a hard and unnecessary hit on fellow cornerback Darius Slay after Steelers tight end Darnell Washington had pushed Slay into the wall on a blocking play.
More players from both sides joined in before referees and security eventually broke them up.
The Eagles walked away without a penalty, while the Steelers were called for two personal fouls which cast them 15 yards. That forced Pittsburgh to move back from the five-yard line to the 18-yard line.
Naturally, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was not pleased and had some strong words to share with the referee.
The fight ultimately worked out in the Eagles' favor as they were able to hold the Steelers to a field goal on the drive.
