The processing out of Oklahoma's offense continues, as the team re-organizes after a disastrous 2024 season.

Their latest loss was wide receiver Jalil Farooq, who entered the portal with one year of eligibility.

Farooq missed virtually the entire 2024 season due to a foot injury.

The Sooners have to sort out their wide receiver room for next season. Nic Anderson has already entered the portal and now Jalil Farooq has entered the portal. Both of those two were Oklahoma's two leading receivers from a season ago, but now they are both seeking new teams.

Deion Burks's future is still to be determined with the team, although Oklahoma feels good about being able to keep him around. I expect Andrel Anthony to probably portal as well. Jayden Gibson, much like Burks, is still making his decision. After missing all top-five receivers for the entire 2024 season, Oklahoma might return just two of them heading into 2025. Which might not be a bad thing, considering.

Farooq is a loss for the team, to be clear. Much like Anderson, however, medicals are tough to overlook. He's been a valuable Z receiver for the team, but I'm not convinced Oklahoma

The Sooners are already gunning hard for several receivers in the transfer portal. Most notably, they have already had a visit with Indiana transfer Donaven McCulley and Miami (OH) transfer Reggie Virgil. Both of them are talented players in their own right who are already on draft radars.

Oklahoma will likely aim to take at least three receivers out of the portal this go around, even if they keep Burks. They're still finalizing their portal moves since it just opened, but so far, the players they are going after look like capable replacements if not outright upgrades at multiple spots.
