The Buckeyes didn't suffer a major hit in the polls or on the recruiting trail after losing to Michigan. Despite the doom-and-gloom around the program's fan base, young men want to play for Ryan Day and his staff. Already with 5-star Julian Sayin on the roster now and 2025 5-star Tavien St. Clair on the way, the Buckeyes added another blue-chip quarterback.

2027 5-star Brady Edmunds committed to the Buckeyes early this week. While fans are hoping to replace Day in the near future, it's clear Day and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly have been an asset in bringing talent to the Horseshoe.

As Edmunds developed into a skilled quarterback and set his high school's career passing yards record during his sophomore year, Ohio State began to take notice.

Day extended an offer to the 6-foot-5, 205-pound prospect on June 6. By September, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Texas made up his top four choices, but the Buckeyes increasingly distinguished themselves.

Edmunds couldn't contain his excitement upon receiving the offer from Ohio State, and his commitment to the Buckeyes has remained strong ever since. It didn't take long for him to realize that Columbus was where he wanted to pursue his college football journey.

He is particularly thrilled about the opportunity to play for Coach Day and looks forward to learning from Coach Kelly, Ohio State’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Here's what he had to say.

“With the play-calling abilities that coach Day has, it’s nice to have an offensive-minded head coach. There are some coaches that don’t understand the quarterback position as well. They’ll get on you for certain things, but they don’t understand it as well as other coaches. I feel like coach Day understands it.

Then, Coach Kelly is there too and he is another guy that understands the quarterback position. Coach Riley Larkin and Coach Billy Fessler work under them and with the quarterbacks. There’s a reason why they have such a good quarterback room right now and I think it starts with coach Day.

Of course, whether this sticks or not if Day is let go and replaced will be a whole angle to watch in itself. If Day does right the ship, he'll have some high-end quarterbacks for the first time since CJ Stroud departed the program.
