The Oklahoma Sooners are looking to rebound from a disappointing 2024 season, and the key to a successful 2025 season could be this incoming class of freshmen. Oklahoma once again built a solid recruiting class under Brent Venables. With plenty of question marks on the future of this roster, this 2025 class could make an impact sooner (no pun intended) than people might think.

Who is the most likely to contribute right away from the 2025 class?

#1. OT Michael Fasusi and #2. OT Ryan Fodje

The two highest-ranked recruits in the class had to make this list. Most important, however, is the position they play. Oklahoma's starting tackles, Jacob Sexton and Jake Taylor, battled injuries all year, and the veterans behind them in Michael Tarquin and Spencer Brown are out of eligibility. Logan Howland could become an effective option with another year of development, but the Sooners need Fasusi and Fodje to hit right away.

Fortunately, these two are tremendous talents who could play early in their careers with the Sooners.

#3. WR Elijah Thomas

I've discussed at length the turnover Oklahoma's wide receiver room could face this offseason, and the Sooners will need playmakers to emerge this season.

Thomas is a gifted athlete at 6'1, 185 pounds, boasting a terrific blend of size, speed, burst, and shiftiness. With how up-tempo and diverse new offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle's scheme is for wide receivers, the targets will be open, and Thomas could snag a fair share this season early on.

#4. TE Trynae Washington

The less we can say about Oklahoma's tight end room in 2024, the better. As bad as the quarterback room was, the tight end room was the worst unit on the team this season, led by Bauer Sharp. Oklahoma must add some real talent into this room, and Washington fits that mold.

He's a fluid mover despite his 6'3, 200-pound frame with terrific hands and is a weapon in the open field. Ben Arbuckle's offense uses tight ends like bigger wide receivers, and Washington fits that mold to a T.

#5. CB Courtland Guillory

With the Sooners losing Woodi Washington, Kani Walker, and Dez Malone this season to graduation, there are over a thousand snaps up for grabs heading into next year. The future looks bright with Eli Bowen and Jacobe Johnson, but the Sooners can't rely on those two to play every snap.

Guillory is a different mold from Bowen at 6'0 and Oklahoma is excited about his combination of size and athleticism. He's a natural tracking the ball and should add a welcome splash of playmaking into the cornerback room right away.
