The Tennessee Vols unofficially locked up a spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff on Saturday via their 36-23 win against the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Tennessee won't officially be in the playoff until the rankings are revealed after the conference championship games next weekend. But as long as the committee doesn't suddenly become incredibly corrupt, the Vols will be in.

After the win against Vanderbilt, Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava was asked how it feels to be in the playoff with the chance to play for a national championship.

"Great feeling, man. Super happy we were able to secure that spot," said Iamaleava. "Now the real work starts. It's go time for us, go time for our team. We know what time it is."

It hasn't been an easy journey for the Vols this season, but that's true of almost every team battling for a playoff spot. Survive and advance has been the mentality for every team. And the Vols got the job done — even when it wasn't pretty.

Now things get real. The Vols are just a few wins away from their ultimate goal. And Iamaleava is playing his best football of the season. If the Vols get hot, they could easily go on a run and bring a championship back to Knoxville.
