Losses bring out the loudest critics and can fracture a fan base in an instant. That's especially the case when your team drops four rivalry games in a row when there's so much on the line. The Ohio State Buckeyes are finding this out the hard way as they reel from their 13-10 loss to Michigan.
It didn't take long for former players to make a comment on social media. Former Buckeyes special teamer and defensive back Tyreke Johnson posted his take on Ohio State head coach Ryan Day.
"I knew coach Day was not the answer when we played in the national championship against Bama and at half time he didn't say a word to the team just went in the office and started to blame the other coaches."
Ouch.
Johnson joined the Ohio State Buckeyes football program as a highly-regarded five-star recruit in the 2018 class, coming from Jacksonville, Florida. Johnson offered size, speed, and potential to the Buckeyes' secondary as a versatile defensive back.
However, his time at Ohio State was marked by limited chances to demonstrate his abilities in a crowded and competitive defensive backfield.
As a reserve cornerback primarily and a contributor on special teams, Johnson found it challenging to secure a steady starting position. Throughout his three seasons, he played in only a few games and had modest statistical output.
In 2021, Johnson decided to enter the transfer portal in search of a new beginning and more playing time. He transferred to Nebraska, where he participated in just two games over the following two years.
