The Georgia Bulldogs' SEC Championship opponent is officially set following a wild rivalry weekend full of blood, sweat, and tears.

Georgia will take on Texas in a rematch at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 7.

This conference championship matchup comes after the No. 3 Longhorns took down No. 20 Texas A&M, 17-7, last night at College Station.

It's great news for Georgia considering they have much of the prep work done for Texas after playing them earlier during the regular season.

That doesn't mean they won't still have plenty of work to do, especially after how things went between the hedges before pulling off a 44-42 win over Georgia Tech in eight overtimes.

The Bulldogs entered their first showdown vs. Texas as 4.5-point road underdogs back in Week 8 but ultimately ended up winning 30-15. They're expected to be the slight underdogs for the rematch as well.

If Georgia beats Texas (again), they're land a first-round bye in the new 12-team College Football Playoff format. If they lose, there is no reason for them to not still get a spot in the playoffs, however, they won't catch a much-needed break before playing on the road.

We'll see how things unfold for Kirby Smart's Dawgs in just a few days.
