For the second time in five days, the Pittsburgh Steelers have given Buffalo a boost in their chase for the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Honestly, Brandon Beane should send flowers.
Last weekend, it was clear that the Steelers were the team to root for in their matchup with the Baltimore Ravens. With the Ravens already holding the tiebreaker over the Bills from their victory earlier this season, Baltimore stood as the biggest threat to Buffalo as they attempt to chase down the now 9-1 Kansas City Chiefs for home field advantage and a first round bye in the playoffs.
It should be a photo finish. Who claims the AFC No. 1 seed when it’s all said and done? #Bills. #Chiefs. Someone else??

The Steelers helped out Buffalo by winning that game against Baltimore, followed by the Bills doing their part in handing the Chiefs their first loss of the season.
Entering Week 12, the Chiefs still sat atop the standings at 9-1, the Bills were behind them at 9-2, and the Steelers were hot on their heels at 8-2. A win would have seen them pull even with Buffalo.
And yet, somehow, in the lake-effect snow blowing into Cleveland, Jameis Winston and the 2-8 Browns stepped up to the challenge on Thursday Night Football, knocking off the Steelers 24-19. Pittsburgh now sits at 8-3, a game back of Buffalo in the AFC hunt.
Buffalo is still going to need some help from Kansas City to overtake them and claim home field advantage heading into the playoffs. That said, Kansas City still has games against the Chargers, Browns, Texans, Steelers, and Broncos on their schedule. Buffalo has the 49ers, Rams, and Lions as their three toughest remaining opponents, with three AFC East matchups in a row to close out the year, two against the Patriots and one against the Jets.
The Bills are primed for a run at it, thanks in large part to the efforts of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
