Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is 30 years old and he’s entering his ninth season in the NFL.

And as Bills fans are well aware, he’s the subject of lots of “Will he ever win the big game?” discourse.

Allen and the Bills have come close numerous times over the last eight seasons, but they’ve just never been able to break through and get to the Super Bowl, let alone win it.

Ultimately, the only thing that will change the narrative around Allen is getting to the Super Bowl and winning it.

But the noise shouldn’t be as loud as it is.

After all, Hall of Famer Peyton Manning was 30 years old and in his ninth season in the NFL when he finally won a Super Bowl with the Indianapolis Colts 20 years ago.

NFL executive says Josh Allen has already “done it”

One NFL executive told The Athletic this week that Allen has already shown he can win the big game.

“Everybody is knocking him — ‘He hasn’t done it, hasn’t done it,’” said the exec. “He did it in Kansas City in the championship game (in January 2022). It didn’t end up the right way for him, but he did it.”

The Chiefs, of course, beat the Bills in overtime under the old overtime rules in the AFC Championship game in early 2022 after winning the coin toss. Kansas City couldn’t stop Buffalo late in that game, but the coin toss didn’t go the Bills’ way, so Allen never got a chance to possess the ball.

The overtime rule was changed because of this game.

Look, winning in the NFL playoffs is hard. The quarterback can only do so much. Without Allen, though, the Bills wouldn’t have had the opportunities they’ve had the last several years.
