‘To the point where I can’t sleep at night’ – Bills QB Josh Allen has one less thing to worry about thanks to big offseason change
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has one less thing to worry about at night this season.
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen will have one less thing to worry about at night this season.
And it has nothing to do with explosive edge rushers or linebackers who want to light him up.
Allen told reporters on Tuesday that he’s excited that Buffalo’s new stadium has natural grass, since it means he won’t have to deal with burns on his legs from the turf after home games.
“I think grass is healthier for our bodies,” said Allen. “I’m to a point in my career now that when we practice inside on the artificial, I can feel it the next day. When we’re out there (on grass), I feel great, and I think any guy that was honest would tell you that’s how they feel.
“I think it’s healthier injury prevention. I’ve gotten numerous burns on my legs from artificial turf, like to the point where I can’t sleep at night because it’s bubbling over and it’s very painful. So I’m excited to not have to deal with that — at home at least. I know we still probably will play games on the road that are on turf, but if I could snap my fingers and make every field grass, that’s what I would do for sure.”
It seems unanimous that players prefer playing on grass. In some instances, such as in domes, it’s necessary to play on turf. But for outdoor stadiums, there’s really no reason any of them should have turf at this point.
The Bills, by the way, will play five road games on turf during the regular season: against the Texans, Rams, Vikings, Jets, and Patriots.
