The brother of a current Tennessee Vols player entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday.

And he plays a position that could be a big position of need for the Vols this offseason.

According to 247Sports' Clint Brewster, Harvard center Austin Gentle has filled out the paperwork to enter the NCAA transfer portal as a graduate transfer.

Gentle is the brother of Vols true freshman defensive lineman Carson Gentle.

Brewster noted that Austin has 30 career starts as an All-Ivy League player. He's also rated as the second best center in FCS according to Pro Football Focus.

For the first time during the Josh Heupel era, the Vols will have an open competition at center next spring/fall with starting center Cooper Mays set to move on from Tennessee after the 2024 season.

Mays, who has been at Tennessee since 2020, has been the Vols' primary center since Heupel took over in 2021.

The Vols will have at least four new starters along the offensive line in 2024. And for now, all of those positions are up for grabs. Bringing in Austin Gentle would be a smart move by Tennessee — especially since he should have plenty of familiarity with the UT program through his younger brother.
