Just one week after the Oregon Ducks' top flip target in the 2025 recruiting class got a massive boost to his grade from On3, Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, a 5-star quarterback out of Hawaii that's currently committed to Cal, has made some remarks that indicate that Oregon is certainly in the running with only a week to go until the early signing period.

Sagapolutele, who grew up watching Marcus Mariota and the Oregon Ducks, has an opportunity to continue the Hawaiian quarterback story in Eugene.

Sagapolutele would be the second quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class for Oregon, who already has a commitment from Akili Smith Jr., son of the legacy quarterback who ran the Oregon offense from 1997-1998 and got selected third overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 1999 NFL Draft.

According to Steve Wiltfong of On3, the decision is a tough one for Sagapolutele, who recently took Georgia off his list in the process of narrowing down his decision.

“Not too sure yet,” Sagapolutele said when asked if he’ll stick with Cal. “It’s a hard decision for me but it’s definitely between Cal and Oregon…I’m not leaning any way though.”

Wiltfong sites reports from The Standard's Stuart Tua, who believes Sagapolutele and his family will take the Thanksgiving weekend to discuss options and hope to have a decision made by Sunday.

Oregon is planning for life after Dillon Gabriel, who is currently leading the team to an undefeated season and an eventual College Football Playoff berth. Between Smith, Sagapolutele, and sophomore Dante Moore, the Ducks would have a stable of young and talented quarterbacks to enter the offseason with, likely giving Moore the first crack at winning the job next spring. Sagapolutele would add to an already impressive recruiting class as the Ducks look to improve upon their seventh-ranked group with a few more big additions in the last week of recruiting.
