Ohio State’s players and coaches will gather around the Thanksgiving table tomorrow and have one thing on their minds, they have to beat Michigan on Saturday.
After losing to the Wolverines three straight times out, the Buckeyes are getting a 6-5 Michigan team at home. It is the perfect get-right opportunity for Ohio State.
Will Howard has led the Buckeyes to a 10-1 start and has been the starter that Ohio State had hoped for in the transfer portal. Still, his biggest moments to be remembered for him remain in front.
Howard said Saturday “may be my last game at Ohio Stadium,” but “it’s not my last game as a Buckeye.” He added “We still have plenty of things to take care of. We’re far from done.”
The exact approach you want to see from the fifth-year quarterback, who has bought in from Day 1 in Columbus. Howard is having a productive year on the field, but he is saying the right things off of it too that has Buckeye Nation really bought in.
Howard is going to get just one game against Michigan, so this Saturday is his chance to leave his mark in “The Game”.
"He wants to win this one in the worst way," Day said on Wednesday. "I have been very impressed with his leadership, with his intensity, with his competitiveness, with his positivity."
Howard has 2,685 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, six interceptions, and is completing 74 percent of his passes in 11 games. The Kansas State transfer has added seven rushing touchdowns and has just one fumble. Taking care of the ball has been a really bright spot in Howard’s game.
Beating Michigan is important to the state of Ohio and only going on to win it all after a loss would make things right if the Buckeyes were to fall in this game. However, Howard and the team seem locked into changing the current tide of the rivalry.
