Sometimes, former Alabama coach Nick Saban takes centerstage over ESPN’s Nick Saban. Never was that more evident than Saturday morning on “College GameDay.”

In a panel discussion with Texas coach Steve Sarkisian and Georgia’s Kirby Smart, Saban wasn’t going to put up with generic coach-speak from his two former assistants.

Asked about balancing adjustments and anticipating what the other team might do, Smart went first and said, “I don’t think you overthink it. I think you try to do simple better. Block. Tackle. (That's) what it comes down to. Everybody wants to make it about the scheme, but a lot of times it comes down to the players, not the scheme.”

Sarkisian quickly agreed.

“I think hit the nail on the head,” Sarkisian said. “You know, we always use the analogy, we never want to get paralysis by analysis. You over-analyze then your players aren’t performing the way they can play. So take in the information, then you try to prepare them to go play.”

Right on cue, Saban fired off, “Yeah, well, I think they’re both bulls—ting us.”

Talk about a stunner. The entire panel busted up laughing along with the crowd.

ESPN host Rece Davis said, “If you’re contributing to the swear jars at home, that’s two for Nick.”

Earlier in the show, the GameDay panel had a long discussion about sportsmanship and the spate of flag-planting that took place last weekend.

“To fine these schools $100,000 is like worrying about mouse manure when you’re up to ears in elephant s—.” Saban said.
