Usually its because of the miraculous grabs he makes, ones that typically count.
But in an expert display of hands, George Pickens forget his feet, or at least that's what the officials said, something many, including his QB were left questioning.
Russell Wilson unsure of two foot rule
"It's an interesting rule," Wilson said when asked the overturned TD. "It's like, obviously, we thought maybe he had dragged his toe, maybe he got it down. We get the same foot down twice, and it's clear one and then another one. No. 2, it's almost like you get a knee down, and it counts as a touchdown. And getting two right feet, maybe it should count. But I don't know. George had a great game. I know obviously he wants those two touchdowns. We all want those — it really would've broken out the game early on for us.”
It turns out the NFL rulebook makes a clear distinction on the footwork component of a catch, stating that the receiver must have both feet down as opposed to two feet down. Once closely analyzed, that was surely not the case despite the excellent throw and catch.
Regardless, it's clear that the insertion of Russell Wilson into the starting lineup is paying dividends for Pickens. A week after burning the New York Jets for over 100 yards and his first TD of the season, Pickens went for 74 yards and would have had two TDs if they weren't called back.
Even still, its clear that if Pittsburgh is serious about being a playoff contender and beyond, the offense is one more WR away from some serious damage.
Because following the Baltimore Ravens' surprise trade, Pittsburgh might be first in the AFC North, but they could be looking up at Baltimore if they play it safe ahead of next Tuesday's trade deadline.
