Former Tennessee Vols standout Grant Williams went viral on Friday night because of a flagrant foul he committed against Boston Celtics guard Jayson Tatum.
Williams and Tatum were teammates in Boston from 2019 to 2023. The two players are believed to be good friends off the court, but that didn't appear to be the case on Friday night when Tatum was fouled hard by Williams in the Celtics' 124-109 win against the Charlotte Hornets.
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green took to Twitter after the game to share why he thought Williams fouled Tatum.
Green thinks the former Vol is upset that Tatum didn't try to keep the Celtics from trading Williams to the Dallas Mavericks ahead of last season (Williams was later traded to his hometown Hornets).
Boston defeated the Mavericks in the NBA Finals in five games last season to claim the franchise's first championship since 2008.
Green's theory is that Williams is upset that he didn't get to be part of that championship run.

Maybe Green is right. If he is, I can't really blame Williams for being sour. It's never easy to get traded after spending the first four years of your pro career with a franchise. It's undoubtedly even tougher when that team wins a championship without you.
Or maybe Williams was just playing hard, like he has since his days at Tennessee. Either way, the foul didn't cause an injury and no punches were thrown.
No one blinks an eye at that foul 35 years ago. But thanks to social media and a 24/7 news cycle, every hard foul is now a big deal that seemingly breaks the internet.
