The Cincinnati Bengals made a few roster changes Saturday ahead of Week 9's showdown against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Running back Kendall Milton has been signed to the active roster off the practice roster, offensive tackle Devin Cochran and wide receiver Kendric Pryor have been elevated off the practice squad, and defensive tackle Lawrence Guy has been released.
A flurry of moves became necessary after the team finalized its injury report on Friday. Running back Zack Moss (neck), wide receiver Tee Higgins (quad), and left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. (knee/fibula) are all doubtful to suit up against Las Vegas. The contingencies are pretty clear to identify.
Milton ensures three running backs will be available without Moss, Pryor adds insurance at wideout without Higgins, and Cochran provides depth without Brown.
Clubs are only allowed to elevate two players off the practice squad per week, so in order to get Milton up, they had to sign him to the roster. That was bad news for Guy as his roster spot was sacrificed for Milton.
Guy was originally signed prior to Week 3 when the Bengals were down multiple defensive tackles. The position has since returned to full health and Guy was a healthy scratch for two of the last three games.
The Bengals may not need Milton for more than a week or two unless they end up putting Moss on the Reserve/Injured list, so a return to the practice squad could be in store for him.
Neither Moss, Higgins nor Brown have been ruled out yet, but the team is indeed prepared to play without them Sunday.
