After a week off, Ohio State is back on Saturday and they will be at home to host the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Last time out for the Buckeyes was a 32-31 loss to the Oregon Ducks. Nebraska fell this past weekend to Indiana and the score of 56-7 shocked most people.

When Ohio State goes up against Nebraska, it is key they get their pass rush going. They will be all too familiar with the quarterback for the Cornhuskers as well.

Nebraska QB Dylan Raiola is a former Ohio State commitment

Raiola committed to three different colleges while in high school and Ohio State was the first. In May of 2022, Raiola committed to the Buckeyes. His commitment stayed intact until December.

Then in May of 2023, Raiola committed to Georgia. On Dec. 18, 2023, Raiola flipped his commitment from Georgia to Nebraska.

While in high school, Raiola was the No. 3 quarterback and No. 21 overall prospect, according to the 247 Sports Composite.

"He's a very talented young man. He's got good size and a strong arm and he really works at the game,” said Day on 97.1 The Fan. “He doesn't need a whole lot underneath him to make some of those throws and he's got a bright future ahead of him."

Ohio State’s pass rush has to step up this week against Nebraska

A true freshman making a Big Ten start on the road in Columbus is not ideal and that is what Raiola will be doing. Ohio State’s defense needs to step up in a big way after a letdown against Oregon. That starts up front by making Raiola uncomfortable.

Ohio State did not sack Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel one single time. That is not acceptable when starting two seniors in Jack Sawyer and J.T. Tuimoloau.

If the Buckeyes want to accomplish their postseason goals in 2024, the pass rush is going to have to do a lot more than it has done this season.
