It's been a rough season for the Michigan Wolverines in many ways, but there was a completely different vibe among the staff and players following their huge Big Ten rivalry win over Michigan State on Saturday. Both head coach Sherrone Moore and running back Donovan Edwards met with the media immediately following the 24-17 victory and they were absolutely hilarious together.

Coach Moore kicked things off by himself, talking about how proud he was of his team, taking huge steps together, and shared a funny comment on Donovan Edwards' passing chops:

"Yeah, I thought it was awesome. You know that was the challenge. I wanted our guys to play free, to have fun. And you know, the halfback pass, Donovan [Edwards] might have the best passing percentage of any quarterback to ever play at Michigan (he said with a big smile). He's unbelievable when he throws the football. It was just good to see those guys have fun and do that."

In case you missed the incredible running back passing touchdown from Donovan Edwards to Colston Loveland that put Michigan ahead by two scores over Michigan State, you can see that in the post from The Wolverine below:

Sherrone Moore was somewhat joking about Edwards' passing skills, but what he said is also true. Donovan Edwards is now four for four passing throughout his Michigan career with 131 yards and two passing touchdowns. Perfect passer rating. Edwards couldn't get any better as a "quarterback" for Michigan.

Shortly thereafter, Edwards joined the press conference, and a jovial Moore in rare form couldn't help but make another joking comment towards his running back as he came in with a shirt that was ripped up to his chest to showcase his midsection.

Sherrone Moore: "Where's your shirt? You're embarrassing me. I've got to go work out now."

Donovan Edwards: "Haha nah, you look better than me anyway."

Coach Moore, Edwards, every player who joined the press conference later, and the entire media room just couldn't help but find joy together, laughing, joking, clearly enjoying the post-game euphoria of defeating a massive rival in Michigan State.

Moore continued on a few short questions later, breaking down his love for trick plays and how much the players enjoyed the creativity in play calling this week:

"You know, I always love trick plays. I love 'different' things. I love variation. Because one these guys are kids so, when you introduce a trick play they all smile. They all get happy. Especially this one over here (gestures to Donovan Edwards). You can see the grin on his face. But it was just to change it up, give them some variation. And it also makes people work for something, work at something, and that's what we want to be able to do. Because we've got a lot of [plays like that] in the bag to [pull] out."

Michigan certainly seemed to have a ton of special plays in their bag against Michigan State. If there's plenty more where that came from the Wolverines might just continue to find the spark they need on offense each and every week. And it seems plays like the running back pass do more than just trick their opponents. They bring some fun back to the game again for a Michigan team that definitely needs it amid a less than perfect season.

One media member had to come back to the trick play later on in the post-game interview asking, "Donovan, everyone knows about your arm, but what's up with that arm, man?"

Sherrone Moore chuckled saying, "Don't start. Don't start. don't start!" Edwards and Sherrone both shared pretty funny responses again without hesitation.

Donovan Edwards: "I ain't the next Tom Brady, but I'm an athlete, I don't need a warm up. You know, what I'm saying, just go let it rip. You feel me."

Sherrone Moore: "I'm going to have another trick play I'm going to have to go with next time."

Donovan Edwards: "That's a great question, I appreciate it."

There was just so much joy in the presser following the Michigan State win, unlike so many weeks before. To give you a glimpse of how much fun everyone seemed to be having, the picture below is of Sherrone Moore's face following a comment from his media team who said, "Alright two more questions for Coach Moore, and then we'll get into Donovan's passing ability."

Sherrone Moore laughs, full of joy in his post-game press conference following Michigan State win.

That's certainly not a face we have seen very often from Coach Moore this year as Michigan has largely struggled offensive, losing more games than the team likely expected to coming into the season.

It's great to see the entire Michigan program having fun again. Hopefully Coach Moore, Donovan Edwards, and the whole Michigan team can carry this success and newfound happiness into the rest of the season as they bounce back from a rocky start.
