Like he seemingly does a handful of times every season, Patrick Mahomes has set a new NFL record.

During the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 8 27-20 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, Mahomes became the fastest quarterback ever to reach the 30,000 yard passing milestone.

Mahomes accomplished the feat in just 103 career games, passing Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford’s record of 109 games. With 30,075 passing yards, Mahomes now ranks 55th among all quarterbacks in NFL history. It's safe to say if he stays healthy, Mahomes will rocket towards the top of that list as his career unfolds.

If Mahomes stays at his 2024 pace of 235 passing yards per game, he should catch AFL legend John Hadl at No. 40 by season's end. Mahomes threw for 262 yards against the Raiders on Sunday, his third-highest total of the year. With the new addition of wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, Mahomes' stats should see some padding.

Numbers-wise, Mahomes is off to the worst start of his career. However, he has continued to make big plays during crucial situations and will Kansas City to victory. As Hopkins settles into the offense, he'll not only provide Mahomes with a big-time receiving option, but he should open things up for speedy rookie receiver Xavier Worthy down the field.
