Colorado State wide receiver Tory Horton opted against entering the NFL draft last year to continue climbing in the 2025 class. Considering he exploded for 133 yards and one touchdown against Colorado and Travis Hunter last year, it seemed possible Hunter could ender the second-round mix.
Unfortunately, his season ended prematurely this week as he suffered a season-ending knee injury. Horton, a top-100 player on our 2025 Big Board, stands 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds. We'll look at his draft outlook with this news.
Tory Horton Draft Outlook
Horton is one of the best vertical receiving prospects in the nation. Though he's lanky, he's a speedster and built a solid repertoire of routes throughout his five-year career. He's not just someone who can only go deep, but be more of an engine for an offense that will feed him volume.
Totaling 265 receptions over 50 games with Nevada and Colorado State, including 71 in 2022 and a nation-leading 96 in 2023, Horton has played every role an NFL team could realistically want from him. He's reminiscent of Hollywood Brown for this reason.
Brown is also known for his speed but has often played more of a possession-based role like Horton did. Some of that is the offenses and quarterbacks he's been tied to. The Rams certainly did not have a consistently explosive downfield passer.
Catching only 26 passes for 353 yards and one touchdown this season, Horton wasn't having the hoped-for campaign. Even though the Rams are off to a decent 3-3 start, their advanced numbers show they're likely to crash over the second half of the season. Honestly, Horton had little to gain in draft stock this season, given the team's QB play.
We don't know the exact injury Horton will be overcoming and his timetable to hit the field, and that is a bigger concern than him missing actual on-field time. Scouts know what Horton brings to the table, and he's a top-100 talent.
But the question is whether he can go to the Senior Bowl and Scouting Combine and participate. If he can't, he could fall later into Day 3.
