The LSU Tigers have long been known as a school that produces great wide receiver talent. Odell Beckham Jr., Ja'Marr Chase, and Justin Jefferson came from Baton Rouge and had great success in the National Football League.

One player who had success in Baton Rouge was Kayshon Boutte. At one point, he was viewed as a top receiver in the 2023 NFL Draft class but fell for many reasons to the sixth round where the New England Patriots selected him.

After playing in just five games his rookie year, Boutte wasn't thought to be a major factor going into the 2024 season, especially after details of him creating a gambling account underage came into light this January. A possible suspension could have hindered his career but that hasn't come forward yet.

Boutte has gotten some run with the Patriots this year, including catching a 40-yard touchdown pass against the Houston Texans this past Sunday and he has shown something to offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt.

That's an important aspect of this entire thing. The Patriots did select two wide receivers in April's NFL Draft with Ja'Lynn Polk in the second round and Javon Baker in the fourth round. Boutte has already trounced his rookie year stats this season with seven receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown while seeing his numbers improve each week.

Will this end up meaning anything long-term for Boutte and the Patriots? Maybe, maybe not. However, it's a very positive sign for Boutte who was at one point a projected first-round pick.
