LSU head coach Lane Kiffin goes viral after channeling Scottie Scheffler at SEC Media Days
LSU Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin channeled his inner Scottie Scheffler on Thursday at SEC Media Days in Tampa.
LSU Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin is obviously no stranger to going viral (though he’s had a somewhat quiet summer — likely due to his decision to quit social media).
And as expected, a couple of Kiffin’s quotes from Thursday at SEC Media Days are going viral.
One of the quotes, however, especially stood out because it sounds exactly like something Scottie Scheffler said last week before playing in The Open.
Scheffler was asked whether he plays for his place in golf history.
“I don’t really play for a place in history,” said Scheffler. “I’m not playing for anything like that. It’s gonna sound a little morbid, but at the end of the day, I’m gonna live my life, and then it’s gonna end. And when it ends, I’m going somewhere else, and I’m not going to be here anymore.”
Kiffin dropped a similar quote on Thursday morning.
“I watched the Hulk Hogan special,” said Kiffin. “And I realized, ‘We’re all gonna die.’ And so some of the things that we worry about, and what this person says, really aren’t gonna matter. And when I lost my dad, I started thinking that.
“When I was growing up, there were two people that I thought just wouldn’t die: my dad and Hulk Hogan. And then I watched that special, and Hulk Hogan died. There was no way Hulk Hogan was ever gonna not wrestle and die, and he did. And so it just made me reflect really on that I can’t be so concerned about little things and what people say.”
