Oregon Ducks and Dan Lanning in final mix to land elite five star recruit who just reclassified to 2025 class

Things just got very interesting in the college football recruiting world. The No. 1 over player in the 2026 recruiting class, 5-star DL Jahkeem Stewart, has reclassified to the 2025 cycle.
He now becomes the crown jewel of the remaining players out there with about two months to go until the early signing period, and the attention he receives is going to be out of this world. Oregon is one of four teams that are in the mix, and Stewart would almost assuredly propel them to a top-3 2025 recruiting class.
Stewart has game-wrecking upside, and the potential to not only anchor a college defensive front, but also has the potential to be a high first-round draft pick when he's eligible. The No. 1 player in the class of 2026 is so highly graded that he now slots in as the top defensive player in the 2025 class, according to Rivals.
His sophomore year in high school was simply ridiculous, posting 90 tackles, over 30 tackles for a loss, and 20 sacks.
As a sophomore.
Lol. What.
Stewart is already 6'6" 270 lbs. Currently, LSU, Ohio State, and USC are listed as the top competition, but there's reason to believe that the decision might be favoring LSU.
The dominant defensive lineman recently transferred to Edna Karr High School in Louisiana, which has historically been an LSU recruiting hotbed. Head coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks being able to pull Stewart out of Louisiana would be a robbery of the highest order.
Oregon is pulling out all the stops. Stewart is reportedly visiting Eugene next weekend for the Ducks home game against Ohio State. It's an incredible opportunity for the Ducks to showcase everything they have to offer, and for Stewart to get a taste of what will be an absurd home environment for arguably the most hyped game in Autzen Stadium history. Oregon would give Stewart an opportunity to get on the field and make an impact in year one, with Jordan Burch and Derrick Harmon likely off to the NFL next spring.
Giddy up.
