Travis Kelce has really come on as of late for the Kansas City Chiefs and they have needed him with numerous injuries on their offense. Kelce has a legit chance to get back to having a 1,000-yard season after falling just short for the first time in eight seasons last year.

Still, Kelce is 35 years old and he is not getting any younger. When factoring in he’s taking no shortage of a beating each game still, it is fair to wonder how long Kelce will play.

Kelce is still playing at a very high level, so it isn’t much of a worry right now. But eventually, the Chiefs need to find a replacement for Patrick Mahomes. In the latest 2025 NFL mock draft at A to Z Sports, the Chiefs land on a great solution.

Kansas City Chiefs select Penn State TE Tyler Warren at No. 32 overall

Warren is having a breakout season for Penn State and has put himself in a position to have a shot at being a first-round selection in April. A year after taking speedster Xavier Worthy at the end of the first round, they find another big offensive weapon here.

“Eventually, Travis Kelce has to slow down, right? With the Chiefs opting for their offense to evolve to "death by a thousand paper cuts", they've become one of the top 12 and 13-personnel teams in the league. Adding Warren to that offense as the immediate TE2 and eventual Kelce replacement at TE1 is a terrifying thought.” – AJ Schulte, A to Z Sports

The idea of having Warren be the second tight end option to Kelce for a season or two is an attractive one. On Day 1, that very well is the best tight end duo in the NFL. Noah Gray has been a nice secondary option and moving him to the third spot gives you a very strong tight end room.

Warren has 59 catches for 681 yards in nine games for Penn State this season and is seeing a ton of usage. Warren can be used as a super back, spread out wide, and be an in-line tight end. His ability to line up all over the place could be a real Swiss Army knife for Andy Reid.

The Chiefs are 8-0 and they are trying to win their third straight Super Bowl. If they can do that and then land Kelce’s replacement, who would say no?
