Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith has had his $16,883 fine from Week 7 rescinded.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Smith's fine for what was then determined to be a hip-drop tackle on Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin has been overturned by NFL hearing officer Jordy Nelson.

That's right. Former Green Bay Packers Super Bowl champion Jordy Nelson rescinded the fine.

The play featured Smith tackling Godwin late in Baltimore's win over Tampa Bay. Godwin had to be carted off the field and was placed on Injured Reserve in the following days.

Smith was not flagged for the play, but the league put the play under review Monday and determined it checked all the boxes for what should've been flagged a hip-drop tackle.

Nelson's ruling now counters all of that, leaving Smith vindicated and nearly $17,000 richer than he was a few weeks ago.

No player has yet been penalized in real time for a hip-drop tackle this season, though at least nine would've qualified at the time of this play under the rules that were put in place this offseason.

This would've been the fifth fine of Smith's career, the fourth from the last two years alone, and the second fine of just this season. He was fined for another $16,833 for a horse-collar tackle he made against the Kansas City Chiefs back in Week 1.
