FOXBOROUGH, Mass – Marcus Jones has shown that he can really do it all.

Whether it's defense, special teams, or even offense, he's always willing to contribute.

And that was very apparent in Sunday's loss to the Rams.

For the first time this season, Jones took snaps on offense, even recording a carry in the team's loss to the Rams.

On Thursday, New England Patriots defense coordinator was asked what he's seen from the cornerback.

And he made a very telling comparison.

“People talk about Travis Hunter, that’s Marcus (Jones),” Covington said. “That’s Marcus. He did that in college too.”

So, what does Jones think about this?

“(Hunter) doing that, that’s crazy. Especially all the snaps. Playing on both sides,” Jones said. “But I wasn’t the first Travis. Jabrill Peppers was, at Michigan. He was playing all over the place and then I did it whenever I was in college a little bit. Kudos to (Hunter). I hope he’ll be able to do it in the league as much as he can, for sure.”

Hunter is viewed as a Heisman frontrunner, playing at both cornerback and wide receiver for the Colorado Buffaloes. So far this season, Hunter has 74 receptions for 911 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns, along with two carries for five rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

But then when you turn to defensive side of the ball, he has 23 total tackles, eight passes defended, one forced fumble, and three interceptions.

It's clear to see why so many teams are keeping a close eye on Hunter heading into the 2025 NFL Draft. But don't forget, the Patriots have a triple threat of their own.
