The Arizona Cardinals have acquired linebacker Baron Browning in a trade with the Denver Broncos.

Arizona is sending a 2025 sixth-round pick for the four-year NFL veteran. Drafted by Denver in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Browning has 114 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 29 quarterback hurries, one forced fumble, and one interception throughout his career.

His most productive season came in 2022 when he racked up five sacks. Browning missed the first seven games of the 2023 season with a knee injury, but played solid ball upon his return in nine starts. Unfortunately, Browning spent a four week stint on injured reserve with a foot injury early in 2024.

Those injuries, along with the emergence of fellow pass rushers Jonah Ellis and Jonathon Cooper, got Browning lost within the Broncos' pass rush shuffle. Still just 25 years old, if Browning can put his injury woes behind him and stay healthy, he has a lot of ability to contribute to the Cardinals' defense.

Arizona had a need for an additional pass rusher with BJ Ojulari and Dennis Gardeck both on injured reserve with torn ACLs. Winners of their last three games, it makes sense for the Cardinals to be buyers ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline. They lead the NFC West by a half game and have a favorable schedule in the second half of the season, with only one matchup against a team that currently has a winning record.
