Quarterback Jordan Love hasn't had a smooth season. He injured his knee in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil, missed two games and was somewhat limited in at least another one. Then he got a groin injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars three weeks ago, missed the second half and the preparation ahead of the Detroit Lions game.
That has at least in part some effect in Love's up and down performance, and a significant increase in turnover-worthy plays compared to 2023.
Now that the bye week has passed, Jordan Love is finally close to fully healthy, which allows him to have a full week of practice ahead of the Chicago Bears game on Sunday. For head coach Matt LaFleur, that's a huge aspect in preparation for a rivalry game.
"Everybody is dealing with something. But certainly when you're limited in your lower half as a quarterback, or any type of thrower, that can have a big effect in your ability to just move around in the pocket or throw accurately," LaFleur said on Wednesday. "It'll be good to just get him some practice under his belt where he's fully healthy. That's the other thing going back to last game, he didn't practice the full week. Confident that a full week Worth of practice and stacking those days will definitely be beneficial for him."
On Wednesday, Jordan Love was listed on the injury report, but as a full participant. That's significant because Love is finally healthy enough to make all individual drills and get all the reps without limitations or concerns.
"A normal week for the quarterback is to take every snap," LaFleur added. "That's why it's so tough in-game when backups have to go in and are forced to play without getting any of the reps. Their reps are mostly on the show teams."
So far this season, Jordan Love has played six and a half games. He's completed 61.3% of his passes for 1,820 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, with an 88.2 passer rating.
