A Green Bay Packers' promising seventh-round rookie will have his first NFL chance. Kalen King, drafted by the Packers this year, has been elevated from the practice squad for gameday for the first time. That's an option because both Jaire Alexander and Corey Ballentine have been ruled out with knee injuries.

King was drafted by the Packers and had a solid preseason, but ended up not making the 53-man roster. Thankfully for the team, the cornerback wasn't claimed off waivers and returned to the practice squad.

The healthy cornerback group on the 53-man roster Keisean Nixon, Carrington Valentine, and Robert Rochell. Rookie safety Javon Bullard has started in the slot, so Green Bay will usually play only two cornerbacks per play.

It's King's first elevation, since the Packers had preferred to elevate players like Robert Rochell (who's now on the active roster) and Kamal Hadden. With this move, the Packers made sure that they still have an available elevation for Hadden later in the regular season if needed. King could be elevated twice more.

Practice squad elevations this season:

FB Andrew Beck (3)
CB Robert Rochell (3)
QB Sean Clifford (2)
CB Kamal Hadden (2)
RB Ellis Merriweather (1)
CB Kalen King (1)
