The Oklahoma Sooners are having one of the worst seasons in some time. They have made 25 straight bowl games, and if they lose to Missouri on Saturday, they are in jeopardy of missing out on that feat.

The Sooners led the game 9-3 at the half for their matchup against the Tigers. Their defense was working well, getting stop after stop on a Tigers offense that was, admittedly without their most important player in quarterback Brady Cook, but the defense looked good nonetheless. The offense had moments, but that's what held the Sooners back in the first half.

Of course, all nine points came by way of field goals. This was something the Sooners struggled with a bit last year and even this year. They had a kicker battle in the offseason, started the year with Tyler Keltner, and are now rolling with Zach Schmit, who's been pretty good.

Well, on Saturday he was great, so much so that he made some history, even with this being such a bad season for the Crimson and Cream.

According to Sooner Stats, Zchmit made the third longest field goal in Sooners history, as he nailed a 56-yarder. Schmit is ahead of Gabe Brkic, who had five of the longest 12 kicks alone from 2020-2021.

Schmit nailed it, and he appears to really be the Sooners' only offense in this game so far. Well, he and punter Luke Elzinga who has the longest completed pass of the game on a fake punt at the time of writing this.
