The NFL continues fining players for on-field actions. On Saturday, the league announced that Los Angeles Chargers nose tackle Poona Ford was fined $9,944 for roughing the passer against Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis in the second quarter of the Chargers' 27-17 win in Week 10.

The decision is quirky and peculiar because the definition was "body weight". It must not have been a great experience for Will Levis, since Ford is a 310-lb defensive player. Curiously, the referees didn't call it a penalty in real time.

Poona Ford is in his first season with the Chargers. The 28-year-old player has been in the NFL since 2018, playing for the Seattle Seahawks (2018-2022) and Buffalo Bills (2023).

The nose tackle has had a productive season, with 12 pressures and nine stops. He's had a 79.4 PFF grade, including a 75.1 grade in run defense.

While it's tough to see football players losing money like that for normal plays, at least it goes to a good cause. The fines collected are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation to support legends in need.

The Los Angeles Chargers are 6-3 in the season, and on Sunday they play the Cincinnati Bengals. The defense has been particularly impressive under new coordinator Jesse Minter — the unit is second in EPA/play this season, only behind the Minnesota Vikings.
