The Las Vegas Raiders are in a very difficult position right now. They are one of the worst teams in the NFL, who just lost to another team that had that same title just a few weeks ago. And, here's where it gets difficult for the Raiders. They need to continue to lose as much as possible.
They need the best draft pick possible, which would require them to continue losing this season. They are not a playoff team. So, why not continue losing to get the best pick possible? But with that comes players getting unhappy, and you never want that, especially when you have players like Maxx Crosby and Brock Bowers.
And, I'm not saying those guys are unhappy, but I'm sure losing doesn't make it any easier to be happy. So, yeah, they are in a difficult position. And right now, Crosby is saying the quiet part out loud.
"You can always make excuses and point to other things, but it's just about details, just playing for pride at this point," Maxx Crosby said in the locker room after the loss to the Dolphins.
This is a team that, the players know they aren't a playoff team. If they thought they were, Maxx Crosby wouldn't have said last week that they are now a team that wants to ruin other teams' chances of making it. So, in a way, they know what they are, but that doesn't make losing any easier.
You have to think that some really big decisions have to be made this offseason for a guy like Crosby to remain on board. No one wants to be the team that is "just playing for pride at this point." They need to grab their QB of the future and fix the offense.
The Raiders will now play the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Atlanta Falcons where they have a legit chance to go winless the rest of the season.
