The Las Vegas Raiders haven't been the best team over the years when it comes to drafting. Several regimes have failed on more than one occasion. Whether it be the Jon Gruden era, where they only really got a few players right, like Maxx Crosby and Josh Jacobs, or the Josh McDaniels era, where we still haven't really seen any players turn into their full potential yet.
One of the players that they really got wrong, respectfully, was Byron Young, the defensive tackle out of Alabama, who was selected in the third round just last year. He's going into his second year and hasn't progressed enough for the Raiders to want to keep him around.
Every team in the NFL just cut their rosters down from 90 players to 53 in the span of just a few days.
Young made the initial 53-man roster but was cut the next day. The Raiders then replaced him with former Oklahoma Sooners defensive tackle Jonah Laulu, who was an undrafted free-agent rookie.
Now, Young gets a fresh start and hopefully a new home, as he was claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday. The Raiders may have wanted to get him back on the practice squad, but instead he's headed to Philadelphia for a fresh start.
