The 2024 college football season is here and it's a big one for the Ole Miss Rebels. Lane Kiffin has been building his roster up to go all-in for a season just like this one. He has the quarterback in Jaxson Dart. The high level transfers on defense in Walter Nolen, Princely Umanmielen, and Trey Amos should dominate. But how far can they go?
We might not find out much about Ole Miss' true potential in Week 1 as they face off against an FCS opponent in Furman, but we should get a good look at the depth, some potential breakout players, and positional rotations.
However, what's funny about this matchup is that Furman actually won the last the two teams played. It was almost exactly 100 years ago (seriously). Furman defeated Ole Miss 7-2 back on November 15, 1924 as the two faced off in Greenville, SC. Let's hope that doesn't happen again.

Lane Kiffin and the Rebels should be able to test out both of their potential future starting quarterbacks in Walker Howard and multi-sport phenom Austin Simmons at some point in the second half. That will be fun for fans to get a preview of life after Jaxson Dart.
It will also be a prime opportunity for the competitive running back room to compete to see who earns the lion's share of work to replace the talented Quinshon Judkins, who transferred to Ohio State.
It's also a huge recruiting weekend, as Ole Miss is hosting a five star wide receiver they're looking to flip from Alabama and a potential starting quarterback recruit as well. Hopefully Ole Miss takes care of business and can continue their momentum on and off the field with a smooth victory over Furman.
