The Minnesota Vikings pulled the upset on the San Francisco 49ers 23-17 to move to 2-0 on the season. In doing so, they did so without a key player in wide receiver Jordan Addison due to injuries.
It wasn't just Addison, the Vikings had two key players leave the game on Sunday afternoon. It left fans stressed out during the game for the immediate and long-term future. During his press conference on Monday afternoon, head coach Kevin O'Connell updated the media on multiple player's injury status.
WR Justin Jefferson
Justin Jefferson left Sunday's game in the third quarter after being accidentally leg-whipped by 49ers LB Fred Warner. He suffered a quad contusion (bruise) and is day-to-day.
"Justin did came in and did come in today feeling pretty good, which was a positive based upon the initial quad contusion that kind of happened on that run play. So we'll be dating with Justin, and we'll keep you guys posted throughout the week on his workload and what it looks like for Sunday, but pretty positive in the early returns there.
"I just know I want credit Justin, he did some of the things post game, as far as how we could keep the, you know, the swelling and or, you know, kind of limit the impact of that, by some of the things Tyler and the staff wanted him to do from a compression standpoint, how I do sound medical but, but I thought Justin handled it really well. And, you know, inevitably came in feeling pretty, pretty good today."
WR Jordan Addison
Addison missed Sunday's game with an ankle injury he suffered on a hip drop tackle when catching a screen pass. It was frustrating to see Addison miss a game but it doesn't look to be a long-term injury, but we don't know for sure what his status is for this Sunday.
"He's, you know, consistently been pushing through that process. Didn't quite get to a place last week where he could try to go out and even work from a limited perspective, so we'll see if we can maybe get him involved in the week here as we push forward. But very much and hoping to have him, but also want to make sure we're smart with Him, knowing it's a long season."
EDGE Dallas Turner
Dallas Turner injured his knee on the final drive of the game against the 49ers. It wasn't easy to pinpoint where the injury happened or what it could be. Early returns seem to be good. The nature of his status being day-to-day seems to indicate that he likely banged knees with someone and just bruised it.
"Dallas Turner, you know, with his knee, also similar day to day. See how, see how he presses throughout the week. And as we get into, you know, weeks into the season, now, coming off a physical game, there may be some guys that get a day here and there, but like I said, I'll, I'll keep you guys posted as we go here."
