Philadelphia Eagles' 2024 sixth-round Dylan McMahon has found a new home in the NFL.
According to McMahon's agent Whitney Holtzman, the former NC State guard/center has been signed to the Los Angeles Rams active roster from Philly's practice squad.
The Eagles continued to add depth to their offensive line after losing Jason Kelce when they used their final pick on McMahon in the draft this year. He started at guard and center for the Wolfpack, so he was one of many versatile guys that Philly selected.
For a big guy on the line, McMahon is extremely athletic and had a solid training camp but did not make it past the final roster cuts.
The Eagles lack depth behind Cam Jurgens, which the decision to let McMahon go so interesting, especially after Week 1's sloppy game at center.
The Rams' decision to sign McMahon comes after they lost starting center Steve Avila to a knee injury. They will be required to keep McMahon on their active roster for at least three weeks.
He's Undersized, Just like Kelce
Measuring in at 6-3 and 289 pounds, McMahon is known for being undersized– something Kelce was quick to notice when the two first met this offseason.
"Undersized center?” Kelce said as soon as Eagles general manager Howie Roseman introduced him to McMahon during the week of rookie minicamp.
Kelce (6-3, 266 lbs), also a former sixth-round pick back in 2011, knows a thing or two about being doubted as he was once in the same shoes as McMahon.
"We have that in common,” McMahon said. “And just talked a little bit about football and the guys I’ll be facing regularly in our division. He said just make sure you’re staying in the weight room. You can put good weight on you with your frame and your body. There’s places to put good weight on, weight and muscle. He wished me good luck. Like I said it was pretty surreal meeting him. He said he hopes to be able to help me out in any ways he can, so that will be pretty cool.”
Kelce even gave McMahon his number.
Hopefully, the Eagles don't end up regretting letting him get away.
1 player who shocked many fans with his Eagles debut vs. Packers
