The Denver Broncos have once again suffered from the injury bug, as some of their best players have missed games, or will miss the rest of the season. Star running back Javonte Williams is the most recent player to be affected by injury, as he tore his ACL.
Due to the injury, the Broncos went out and signed Latavius Murray off of the New Orleans Saints practice squad.
With that, there has been the question about rotation, and who plays how much in the running back room. On Tuesday, head coach Nathaniel Hackett was asked about potentially playing three running backs, a question we have all been wondering, and he delivered.
"I have kind of talked about it in the past," Hackett said. "I think that with so many games and how violent this game is, the more bacs you can have touch the ball and have fresh legs out there is always good. You know, we are going to get to know Latavius [Murray] here, known him for a long time and I know he is a downhill runner, and I know he can do a lot of different things, he is a very experienced back, so is Melvin [Gordon]. And then [Mike] Boone you saw him come on last game quite a bit. So, all three of those guys you want to see them have the ball in their hands at some point."
Melvin Gordon has dealt with fumble issues this year, but last game he wasn't really that bad. Mike Boone hasn't shown us a ton of anything, and Murray showed flashes of what he used to be earlier this year in New Orleans.
We all kind of thought that all three running backs could play, but knew there was a possibility Boone would be the odd man out.
What Hackett said in response was perfect, and I believe that he does know how he will use Murray, Gordon, and Boone. Now, let's hope the running game is just as good as it was with Williams.
