The Philadelphia Eagles are the best team in football, and I can confidently say that. As of Week 8, they are the best team, and why would I believe differently? They are the most complete team in the league, meaning the offense and defense are stacked and have the best record.
In a way, they are very similar to their neighboring team, the Philadelphia Phillies, the MLB team that is headed to the World Series. They are so much alike in so many different ways.
For head coach Nick Sirianni, he loves what the Phillies have done this year.
"I just look at that team and I think about the way they connect with each other because you want to emulate good teams and you want to see what makes good teams good teams, right?" Sirianni told the media. "They connect with each other, you know they are always celebrating together, it is fun to watch. All of those different things. They went through adversity throughout the year and came out better because of it. My hats off to their coaches, to their players for having a dog mentality to go and control what you can control."
Coach Sirianni was then asked if he would take anything the Phillies have done this year, and try and apply that as a message to his team.
"You know, we have our own current messaging going on. I don't know exactly what they are saying is their message but I think it is fun for us to watch it. At some point I'll probably use a dog mentality thing to show what they went through during the season, so at some point, yeah."
The Phillies and Eagles have both been amazing stories in their own way. No one thought the Phillies would be in the World Series when the season started. And for the Eagles, no one thought they would be the only undefeated team in Week 8.
It's great to hear a guy who isn't from the area talk and praise another local team, and use that for his own team. This city wants to win, and I'm confident that when the year is over, we are talking about Philadelphia doing the same thing Tampa Bay did a few years ago.
