The Miami Dolphins are wasting no time in shoring up one of its biggest question marks.
On Monday, the team announced the signing of veteran offensive tackle Eric Fisher. In a corresponding move, Miami placed right tackle Austin Jackson on injured reserve.
Fisher’s signing comes the day after Miami gave up three sacks in a 33-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Jackson was ruled out along with starting left tackle Terron Armstead prior to the game.
Armstead has been limited due to an injury to his toe and a strained pectoral muscle. While Armstead aims to make his return sooner rather than later, Miami needs a solution in the short term.
Fisher is in his 10th season in the NFL, playing eight seasons with the Chiefs and spending the 2021 season with the Colts. At 31 years old, Fisher has made two Pro Bowls in his career, but he’s also dealt with his fair share of injuries.
Fisher, who was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, figures to slide in at left tackle if he can get up to speed in a hurry. He will be competing with Greg Little and Brandon Shell for the starting positions at left tackle and right tackle if Armstead is to miss any more time.
