Raiders: Something happened in Week 8 we never thought would happen all season
The Las Vegas Raiders had something happen last week that we never thought would happen this season, or any season, for that matter. The Las Vegas Raiders had something happen last week that we never thought would happen this season, or any season, for that matter.
No, I'm not talking about them being shut out, even though I didn't really expect that to happen either. Instead, I'm talking about one of the best players on the team having the worst game on Sunday.
We all know that the reason the Raiders were shut out was largely because of the offense and their inability to get across midfield until the fourth quarter. In fact, they looked very similar to how the Broncos' offense has looked all year.
Their best player on that side of the ball, played his worst game this year and played the worst game on the team, which is something we never expected. Meanwhile, one of the worst players on offense had the best game for the team.
There was something weird going on Sunday.
PFF grades two Raiders players the exact opposite
Now, I'm not exactly sure how Pro Football Focus grades players after games, but they do sometimes get some stuff wrong. This time, however, I completely agree with the grades they gave out.
The offense was putrid on Sunday. Actually, I don't even know if it deserves to be called that.
After their performances on Sunday, Davante Adams was the lowest-graded player on offense according to PFF with a 45.5, and Jermaine Eluemunor was the highest-graded player with a 72.3. Now, if you know the Raiders, you know those two things are almost complete opposites.
Usually, Adams is one of the highest-graded players every week. Eluemunor is usually near the bottom, as he hasn't had the best season.
Literally, in Week 5 against the Chiefs, Adams was ranked the third-highest player on the offense with a 70.3, while Eluemunor was the fifth-lowest with a 57.2.
So, it is almost as if they dressed up as each other for Halloween.
I never thought I would see Adams be the lowest graded player, on any team, any year. He is that good, that it just never occurred to me that that is possible.
This is something you never see, and it further proves this game was an anomaly. Hopefully, we don't have to go through this again.
