Tom Brady has done some amazing things during his time with the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and what he did against the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football is one of his more impressive accomplishments.
For starters, the fourth-quarter comeback win broke Brady's tie with Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning for the most fourth-quarter comebacks in NFL history (44). The 13-point deficit also marked the largest regular season fourth-quarter comeback of Brady’s career. And, according to ESPN Stats & Info, Brady’s game-winning pass with:03 left on the clock marked the latest game-winning touchdown pass of his career.
And, finally, the 13-point fourth-quarter comeback is tied for the largest in franchise history. The Buccaneers overcame a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 14-13, back in 1991.
But the most impressive feat is the fact that according to Amazon's Next Gen Stats, the Buccaneers had a 0.7% chance of winning this game at the 5:34 mark in the fourth quarter.
That's right. 0.7%. If you're bad at math like I am, that's less than one percent.
In other words: The Buccaneers had zero business winning this game.
Yet, they did.
It was an amazing effort over those final 5-1/2 minutes and the Buccaneers deserve every bit of credit for what they pulled off.
This is what it must've felt like to be an Indianapolis Colts fan in 2003.
But, in all seriousness, the Buccaneers pulled off a massive, much-needed win and they did it in the fourth-most improbable fashion, per Next Gen Stats.
And they swept the Saints in the process.
That's enough to make any Buccaneers fan smile all week long.
