The Denver Broncos have a player that will have the deck stacked against him on Sunday. He is going in with the intention to play well, but it won't end that way for reasons that are simply out of his control.
On Friday Broncos Country received the news that Russell Wilson would not play on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals due to a concussion. Against the Kansas City Chiefs, Wilson rushed for a crucial first down on a third and 11, but was slammed into the ground and immediately went unconsious.
We assumed he wouldn't play this week, but the Broncos only confirmed that for us even more. The crazy thing is that Wilson acually passed concussion protocol, but all sides mutually agreed to give it one more week.
So here we are, about to see Brett Rypien start his second game of the season, but he is already set up to fail.
The backup quarterback likely won't do well, and it isn't even his fault. The cards are stacked against him as some of his best weapons will be out on Sunday.
After the news about Russell Wilson released, we also found out that Courtland Sutton and Kendall Hinton were going to be out as well. In other words, he will be working with Jerry Jeudy, who had an amazing Week 14, Brandon Johnson, and Jalen Virgil.
It won't be fun to watch this offense on Sunday, is what I'm going to predict. Then, add in the fact that Kyler Murray won't be playing either, and it definitely won't be fun.
It's almost as if Rypien won't do good and it's out of his control. In a way, I almost feel bad for the guy.
